Lau Yat Wai
Lau Yat Wai graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree from the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University. His work investigates the relationship between memory and objects, particularly those found in intimate personal spaces. He views everyday items such as furniture as carriers of metaphorical meaning and hidden narratives that extend beyond their material function.
His artworks subtly reveal elusive aspects of internal life and personal recollections. Through his practice, he gently navigates the boundary between public and private, exploring how objects can simultaneously carry both objective and subjective memory.
Lau Yat Wai participated in the Yeoju Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale in South Korea in 2017 and was a resident artist at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park in Japan in 2015 and 2020.
